DAY 3: ALGARVE – MEET THE SOUTHERN REGION OF PORTUGAL
This day starts with the journey of 300 km to the south, heading to the Algarve, a beautiful coastline of southern Portugal, a region rich in culture and staggering in beauty. The privileged location in the south of Portugal and the many hours of sunshine make the Algarve one of the favorite destinations for anyone visiting the country. And also it is here that, in the 15th century, the Portuguese set off on the epic journey that led them to discover other peoples and cultures. You will stay in Albufeira. Why? In history, Albufeira was a thriving seaport and had its own castle that was later destroyed in the earthquake of 1755. In Roman times, it was known as Baltum and later changed by the Moors to Al-Buhera. As a result of the tide of tourism, this "once upon a time" fishing village has expanded since the 1960s into a major holiday resorts. Nowadays is one of the most popular resorts in Algarve with incredible nightlife, streets fulfilled of tourists all year long, many commercial streets with handicraft and souvenirs shops. So, enjoy Albufeira!
DAY 4: EXPLORE LAGOS, PONTA DA PIEDADE GROTTOS, SAGRES AND CAPE OF S. VINCENT
Start to explore the southwestern coastline of Algarve: Lagos, a charming seaside city historically connected to the Portuguese discoveries. As a curiosity, here was founded the first slave market in Europe. From Lagos, you can go to Ponta da Piedade, a stunning section of coastline, consisting of caves, grottos, and sea arches that nature has sculpted over thousands of years. Its 20 meter high cliffs, which shine golden in the afternoon sun, and fairytale caves are a must to see. Enjoy the boat trip to the caves that we have prepared for you! From Lagos, you proceed to Sagres and Cape S. Vincent, with romantic views over the Ocean and the rocky coast. This cape is the southwestern most point in Portugal.
DAY 5: EXPLORE CARVOEIRO AND BENAGIL GROTTOS + SERRA DE MONCHIQUE WITH WINE TASTING
The day begins with an amazing boat trip along the ocean coast. You will have the chance to admire more than 15 caves, being the most impressive one the Algar de Benagil Cave, ex-libris of Algarve. From inside this cave, you can see the blue sky through an opening in the ceiling, also known as the eye. The duration of the boat trip is 1 hour and 15 minutes. Next stop will be the National Park of Monchique, one of the most charming places on the Algarve and it’s very different from the tourist coast. Drive up to the mountain: with 902 meters high, this is the highest point in all the Algarve. With a dazzling landscape, the Fóia peak has, for a better contemplation of its natural splendor, two beautiful viewpoints, at about 5 km from the town of Monchique. Ascending the gorgeous Monchique mountain range, you can find a varied offer of restaurants and cafeterias. Moreover, right at the top, there is a pleasant esplanade and several regional handicraft items for sale. The view from the top is absolutely wide and astonishing. You will finish this memorable day with a visit and wine tasting to one of the best wineries in the area.
DAY 6: EXPLORE FARO, OLHÃO, NATURAL PARK RIA FORMOSA
In this day you will visit the highlights of the southeast Algarve coast, with impressive and totally different landscapes! Beauty nature, lovely places. Faro, the capital of the region, is a historical city with narrow streets, typical Mediterranean white houses, and an impressive cathedral.
