DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN LISBON
Arrival and private transfer to the selected hotel for 3 nights.
DAY 2: LISBON - EXPLORE ITS HIDDEN BEAUTIES
Lisbon guided sightseeing tour, visiting the most popular places, squares and districts in Lisbon, such as Marques de Pombal Square, Commercial Square, Liberdade Avenue, Belém old district, highly connected with the Discoveries Era - from this place the great navigator Vasco da Gama started his sailing trips to the New World. After exploring the most beautiful places, squares and the gorgeous views over Lisbon, your driver will take you to the pier for a 1 hour boat trip provided by speedboat on Tagus River so that you may discover the beauty of Lisbon from the water! If you are lucky, you will meet dolphins jumping out of the water! From the pier, your driver will take you to the Hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Opportunity to explore Lisbon’s beauties.
DAY 3: EXPLORE LISBON’S SURROUNDINGS
In the morning, departure towards Sintra, the former summer residence of the Portuguese Kings. Here you will have free time for personal visits, pictures, taste the local pastry or visit the typical handicraft shops. Then, you will cross Sintra mountain to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point in Europe. After, down the mountains, passing by Guincho you will see incredible beautiful beaches. Breathtaking views over Sintra mountain, the Atlantic ocean, and natural dunes on the way to Cascais, an ancient fishing village turned into beautiful seaside resorts, where you will have free time to visit the medieval fortress, the typical narrow streets with small white painted houses Mediterranean style. Return to the Hotel passing by Estoril, other cosmopolite seaside resort, famous for its Casino and its tropical gardens, also for the spy histories dated Second World War which inspired Ian Flamming to create the famous character 007 James Bond. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
DAY 4: OBIDOS / BATALHA / NAZARÉ/ COIMBRA - EXPLORE MORE OF THE PORTUGUESE HISTORY, TRADITIONS, AND CULTURE
Departure towards Óbidos to visit one of the most beautiful medieval fortresses in Portugal, with narrow streets and white painted houses with flowers in the windows. Here you will have free time for a stroll and handicraft shops, taste the famous “Ginjinha” (cherry liquor) served in chocolate cups. This is followed by the visit of Batalha and you will see for yourself one of the most beautiful medieval monasteries in Portugal, UNESCO world heritage. Next stop will be at Nazaré, a beautiful town like few in Central Portugal. From the traditions, that have lingered throughout the years and deeply related to the fishing activity, to the big waves that make this place an important touristy location, there are many reasons for you to want to visit this town. DAY 5: COIMBRA / PORTO: GOING NORTH TO DISCOVER PORTO REGION
Rising scenically from the Mondego River, Coimbra is an animated city and full of history. It was Portugal’s medieval capital for more than a century and it's home to the country’s oldest and most prestigious university. Its steeply historic center dates to Moorish times and has a wonderful atmosphere, with its dark cobbled lanes and monumental cathedral. In the afternoon the journey proceeds to Porto. Check-in and accommodation for 2 nights.
DAY 6: PORTO - EXPLORE PORTO CITY AND ITS UNIQUE WINES AND PLACES
Departure to a full-day tour. In the morning, visit of Porto city, the second-largest city in Portugal, worldwide famous for its wine producers. Here you will visit and taste Port wine in one of its 58 Port wine cellars. The Douro river banks are linked by three technically outstanding bridges, one of these designed by the French engineer Gustave Eiffel.
In the afternoon, you will embark on a 50 minutes boat cruise aboard a Rabelo boat, to enjoy the unique beauty of the Douro River, meeting the edges of the cities of Porto and Gaia.
DAY 7: EXCURSION TO BRAGA AND GUIMARÃES - EXPLORE THE CRADLE OF PORTUGAL, CULTURAL VISITS TO THE MOST HISTORICAL SITES OF THE COUNTRY
We’ll devote this day to learn a little bit more about the rich history of the nation. Departure to Guimarães, the city known as the cradle of Portugal, here was born the Portuguese Nation on 11th century. The old city with its narrow streets and squares bordered by old houses is one of the most beautiful in north Portugal. From Guimaraes we continue our journey to Braga - founded under the name of «Bracara Augusta» during the Roman Empire, which makes it one of the oldest Christian cities in the World. Known as "Archbishops city" and monumental religious heritage. We’ll visit the historical centre and the one of the most important sanctuaries of northern Portugal, "Bom Jesus", which, based on nearby mountains offer those who visit its artistic beauty, combined with the scenic splendor of the sites where. Overnight in Braga.
DAY 8: BRAGA / TOMAR / LISBON - MEET THE TEMPLARS AND THEIR RICH HISTORY IN PORTUGAL
Departure towards Tomar, a medieval city and home to the impressive Templars Castle, known as the Castle and Convent of Christ, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Built in the 12th century, the convent was the medieval headquarters of the Order of the Knights Templar. Almourol Castle will be another amazing romantic discovery on your way to Lisbon. Arrival in Lisbon, check-in, overnight.
DAY 9: FLIGHT BACK HOME
Day at leisure in Lisbon for personal activities. Transfer to Lisbon Airport.
